  • AccessMyLibraryCollege (AML) -- App
    Gale - Cengage Learning. Provides a variety of databases and reference tools including encyclopedias, dictionaries, and "specialized reference resources".
  • EBSCO Publishing - Reference Resources -- Apps and Mobile links
    These apps and links will access both reference and journal databases available through EBSCO. They include: Funk & Wagnalls New World Encyclopedia, Science Reference Center, Teacher Reference Center, and Consumer Health Complete.
Search for Books, Music and More
Locate books at St. Cloud State University and other libraries.
  • WorldCat Mobile
    Search for books, movies, music and more in a wide variety of libraries. Includes resources in the the SCSU Library and other libraries located within and outside of Minnesota.
Search for Journal Articles
Utilize various databases to find and access journal articles.
  • ACS Mobile
    "The Publications Division of the American Chemical Society provides the worldwide scientific community with a comprehensive collection of the most-cited, peer-reviewed journals in the chemical and related sciences."
  • arXiv -- App
    "Open access to 745,111 e-prints in Physics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Quantitative Biology, Quantitative Finance and Statistics"
  • ARTstor Mobile
    "ARTstor provides over 1 million digital images drawn from every culture and nearly every country. Categories include architecture and city planning, decorative arts, paintings and watercolors, fashion and jewelry, film and digital art, landscape architecture, graphic design and illustration, manuscript illuminations, maps, performing arts, prints and photographs, and sculpture. Register for an account to be able to access the site's personalized features as well as its version for mobile devices."
  • AS: Article Search -- App
    This app allows you to search and access articles in JSTOR, Google Scholar and Microsoft Academic. (Note: you may adjust which resources you search in the settings tab)
  • Ebsco Publishing -- App and Mobile Links
    The host for a wide variety of our databases including: Academic Search Premier, Alternative Press Index, CINAHL, ERIC, GreenFILE, Historical Abstracts, Criminal Justice Abstracts, and more. Please note: You may use the settings option to search in specific databases.
  • PubMed Apps and Mobile Links
    "Provides a simplified, mobile-friendly Web interface to access PubMed. PubMed contains millions of article citations from thousands of biomedical journals. Many citations include abstracts." Includes additional apps and mobile links from the National Libraries of Medicine
  • iSSRN: Social Science and Humanities Research -- App
    "iSSRN is a must have for anyone interested in the social sciences and now, humanities. Social Science Research Network (SSRN) is devoted to the rapid worldwide dissemination of scholarly research." At this time there is only an iPad/iPod app.
  • Safari Books - Safari To Go
    "Safari Books Online is a digital library providing on-demand subscription access to thousands of books, videos & interactive learning tools from the world's leading publishers -- anytime, anywhere."
  • Science Direct -- Apps
    "SciVerse ScienceDirect scientific database contains more than 10 million journal articles and book chapters." Subject areas include biology, chemistry, engineering, health sciences, social sciences,and more.
  • Scopus Alerts -- Apps
    "SciVerse Scopus is the world's largest abstract and citation database of peer-reviewed literature." Science focused resources including journal articles and conference papers.
    "Government apps provide information when you're on the go. Find instant notification of recalls to the status of veterans benefits. is working hard to make government easy, convenient, and accessible." Android, Apple, Blackberry, and mobile sites
Build a Bibliography
Cite and organize your information resources.
  • RefWorks Mobile
    "RefWorks is a web-based software that helps you create bibliographies in any format (MLA, APA, Chicago, etc.). You can export citations from library databases (MultiSearch, Academic Search Premier, and many more) into RefWorks; then RefWorks will create your bibliography in seconds." In addition RefWorks has a Microsoft Word Plugin that allows you to insert your citations directly into your document.

    A free app that allows you to organize and share citations and documents, as well as collaborating with colleagues and friends.

    Most popular apps for reading Word and .PDF documents.
    • Adobe Reader -- App
      "The global standard for reliably viewing and sharing PDF documents Adobe Reader is the free global standard for reliably viewing and sharing PDF documents "
    • Evernote -- App
      Read documents, take notes, and collaborate on projects. Available for multiple platforms and devices.
    • Notability -- App
      iPad/iPhone only - Take notes, highlight and make annotations directly in .PDF documents and record comments. (Cost $.99)
  • Writing
    • OnLive Desktop -- Apps
      "OnLive Desktop delivers a seamless Microsoft Windows desktop experience with cloud-accelerated Web browsing with full Adobe Flash. Instant-response multi-touch gestures enable complete and convenient viewing and editing of even the most complex documents, with high-speed transfer from cloud storage or Web mail attachments."

    • Google Drive -- App
      Android only. "Create, edit, upload and share your documents with the Google Drive app."
    • Penultimate -- App
      iPad/iPhone only - "The original, easiest-to-use, best-selling handwriting app for iPad. Penultimate gives you the fast, tactile gratification of writing on paper, with digital power and flexibility." (Cost .99)
    • Pen Supremacy -- App
      Android only. "PenSupremacy is the best handwriting app for android tablets. It is based on the best selling iPad app Penultimate.(It is, however, not from the same developer and has no connection to Penultimate)."
  • Calculators
    • TouchCalc -- App
      iPad/iPhone only. "TouchCalc is a comfortable calculator program and offers several different modes. The scientific mode offers all the usual functions and operations like the basic arithmetical operations, power, logarithm, roots, trigonometry etc."
    • RealCalc -- App
      Android only. "RealCalc Scientific Calculator Android's #1 Scientific Calculator. A fully featured scientific calculator which looks and operates like the real thing."
